Turn Biotechnologies is currently seeking a qualified, highly motivated individual for the position of Senior Scientist - Applications.

The employee will be a highly motivated and innovative individual responsible for the scientific/technical aspects of assigned preclinical in vivo studies, including design of experiments, animal handling, sample collection and preparation, molecular techniques and bioanalytical assays and data analyses. The position’s primary purpose is to assist the preclinical team with planning and execution of in vivo experiments and animal studies, with additional supportive role in in-vitro studies on an as needed basis.

Based in Mountain View, California, Turn Biotechnologies, Inc. is a development-stage company focused on restoring cells’ youthful vigor to repair damage caused by the aging process. Using a proprietary ERA™ Platform, we develop mRNA medicines that are specially formulated to instruct specific cells in the body to fight disease or repair damaged tissue. We do this by reprogramming the epigenome to restore cell function that people often lose as they age. This approach can be used to revitalize different cells throughout the body. We are researching its applicability across multiple therapeutic areas, including dermatologic conditions, pulmonary disease, osteoarthritis and ophthalmology.

Responsibilities:

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

  • Hands-on execution of in vivo preclinical assessment of therapeutic, and collaboration with the preclinical team in nonclinical study design for safety pharmacology.

  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve timelines and milestones.

  • Developing, validating and writing SOPs and technical reports.

  • Organizing data, maintaining records and communicating results.

  • Initiating, organizing and presenting in technical meetings.

  • Acquiring knowledge and understanding of GLP/OECD regulations and the ability to apply them daily.

  • Additional assignments related to regulatory and/or clinical development, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record of hands-on experience with in vivo studies. Expertise in dermatology applications is favored.

  • Experienced and skilled at leading initiatives, troubleshooting, problem solving and adapting on the fly.

  • The ability to come up with innovative ideas and execute them.

  • The ability to work independently and with teams to accomplish goals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Candidates must be able to follow written protocols, record observations in written or electronic form and efficiently manage their time to support multiple ongoing studies.

Education/Experience

  • B.S. in molecular and cellular biology or related discipline.

  • 5-to-7 years of experience in academic or industry research and development. At least 1 year of corporate experience, in documentation and formalizing protocols.

  • Google Suite and/or MSOffice skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
